It comes down to this: How cold and for how long?
Thursday night is projected to get down to 10 degrees thanks to
25mph+ winds from the NW!
We all know that 32 degrees is freezing, but sustained temps at
or below 28 is considered a hard freeze.
We’ll drop below 28 Thursday night and not get above that until
sometime Saturday.
Here’s what my friends over at Bruce Miller Nursery had to say:
* Established trees and shrubs should be okay.
* Covering your flowering annuals, bedding plants and vegetables
can save them.
* Some annuals, like pansies and decorative kale, are more cold
tolerant can survive single digit temps.

Or you can use old bed sheets.
For your Smart Homeowner list
Walk around your house and identify any plants you want to try to
save.
Use sheets or specialty covers to protect what you can — make
sure and weight or stake down the edges with the potential for
40mph wind gusts!
Stop by your favorite local nursery for specific advice and to
get specialty covers.
Hint: They’re not real busy right now — and they love to help
people!
