😲 How much is my insurance going up?!!

Homeowner’s insurance rates are rising and rates in Texas are increasing at twice the national average.

Why it matters: Shopping rates can be good for your budget as long as you’re not sacrificing coverage for a lower cost.

🖼️ The big picture: Not all insurance policies are created equal.

  • An independent agent can help you make decisions that align with your goals.

🤔 Keep these things in mind while shopping:

👉 Don’t choose a high deductible unless you’re ready to pay it. Contractors are required by law to collect your deductible.

👉 Avoid roof surface endorsements (or Roof payment schedules) — these give you LESS COVERAGE and make roof replacement much more costly.

👉 Opt for O&L coverage if possible — Ordinance & law (code coverage) allows your contractor to include important code upgrades during your loss restoration project.

👉 Consider your risk for mold and flood and opt for that coverage if available.

✅ For your Smart Homeowner list

  • If you’ve had the same insurance for years reach out to an independent broker.
  • Who can analyze your policy, help you understand the coverage you actually have and can show you multiple alternatives.

Best,

Travis
