✅ How to shop for new floors

Before your next flooring project, you need a good checklist.

🖼️ The big picture: Flooring is often advertised with a price per square foot that does not include all preparation and installation costs.

  • Quality of materials greatly impacts price. You want a trusted contractor to help you choose the best flooring for your lifestyle and budget.

When Daphne and Mike came to my home, I saw the attention to detail you want.

📝 Here’s Daphne’s checklist when you’re getting quotes:

🔲 Fee for an in-home consultation?

🔲 Cost if installer moves the furniture?

🔲 Charge for removal AND haul off of old flooring?

🔲 Cost for leveling floor to prep for hard surface flooring?

🔲 Who handles the trim?

🚨 Some installers will only install floors and expect you to find a contractor for baseboards, shoe mold and door trim

🔲 Transitions between different flooring surfaces?

💡 Best to have level transitions and avoid transition strips when possible

✅ For your Smart Homeowner list

  • Changing flooring is a major project that can be complex and costly.
  • A personalized in-home flooring consultation is key to a great project.

Best,

Travis

P.S. Something else I liked about working with Daphne and Mike was their mobile showroom — amazing how many flooring samples they fit on that truck! 🤯
